ABOUT US
Since 2003, we have strived to showcase and spread the grace, beauty, and power of Chinese folk arts throughout the Boston and New England areas. Featuring both male and female performers, the Chinese Folk Art Workshop is the only performance group of its kind in the Greater Boston area. With over 30 performances each year, our young performers take pride in their culture by sharing their talents in traditional Chinese performance and visual arts.
Our Mission
The Chinese Folk Art Workshop's mission is to increase awareness of Chinese culture in local communities throughout Boston, Massachusetts, and New England. We want our young performers to embrace and cherish their heritage, while spreading awareness of their beautiful culture with others. As a Gold Youth Organization certified by the President's Volunteer Service Award, the Chinese Folk Art Workshop is nationally recognized for their work in the New England community.
-
We provide diverse performance platforms that give children who love the stage and performing arts ample opportunities to showcase their confidence. Through these performances, students learn to appreciate the beauty of Taiwanese arts and culture, embrace the value of helping others, and gain an understanding of cultural diversity.
-
Students explore a wide range of traditional arts and cultural activities, including dance, kung fu, tumbling, diabolo, dragon and lion dances, drumming, and more.
By using physical movement as an effective learning tool, we help students discover and realize their own potential.
-
Through hands-on training and activities that resonate with traditional culture, we help second-generation students explore their identities and grow up laughing together with peers who share similar backgrounds. We also foster a deep connection and sense of belonging by helping students understand the cultural heritage and backgrounds of their parents' hometowns.
